In Warhammer 40,000, a Chaos Spawn is a horrific, mutated creature that was once a mortal being. These aberrations are the result of excessive mutation from exposure to Chaos energies or the “gifts” of the Chaos Gods. When a mortal receives too many “blessings” from the Dark Gods or fails to control their growing power, they may transform into these mindless, writhing masses of flesh, tentacles, and various mutations. Each Chaos Spawn is unique in appearance, representing the random and unpredictable nature of Chaos mutation. They serve as a warning to those who seek too much power from the Ruinous Powers, as becoming a Chaos Spawn is often considered a fate worse than death in the grim darkness of the far future.
